Book of Lands

While our World is vast, the Worlds that arise from imagination may be infinitely so.

Scratched onto an illusion of tattered stock at the dawn of each new novel, a bird's eye ballad of mystery awaits, luring us to a promise of adventures to follow. Ever since experiencing stories like Lord of the Rings and Sword of Shannara as children, we've been delighted by the whimsical cartography of these fantastic realms.

• Maps prologue the wonder of our hero's journey in a magnificent display of suspicious terrain and unexplained names, all while leaving the mystique of ignorance completely intact. They show everything, yet spoil nothing.
• Maps bait us into guessing wrongly at what's to come. They invite the uninitiated and tantalize would-be know-it-alls alike, setting us each gently on equal ground. They balance the playing field by barely disclosing it.
• Maps offer the gift of another way. The World isn't always what it seems...but with a little perspective, we can immerse deeper into it and know what it's like to be the hero. They make us believe.

Book of Lands is my love letter to a childhood caught up in fantasy games and novels. This collection honours these classic stories that taught us how our own World works through timeless character archetypes and careful analogy to very real human issues. I began making these Maps in 2018, though in actuality I've been drawing them for much longer, and at this point it's doubtful I'll ever stop.

Currently the bundle contains 22 complete quality pieces, formatted for print at sizes 16x20 or 8.5x10, and will gradually increase in number as long as an honest appreciation for the craft persists. As of May 2024, my first target is 30 pieces, each with its own companion page for embellishment on key details. These remaining works are already in progress, with plenty of space for many more!
